       The Department of Public Administration and Policy Studies has started functioning from 19th August, 2016.The Department of Public Administration and Policy Studies is the first regular University Department in the State of Kerala for higher studies and research in Public Administration and related areas, it includes Development Administration, Rural Development; Panchayati Raj; Urban Governance and Development; Public Policy Analysis; Public Sector Management and Governance; International Administration; Indian Administration and so on. The Department is a part of the School of Social Sciences of this University. The Department offers PG and PhD Programmes in Public Administration and Policy Studies. The Department is functioning under the School of Social Sciences.

       The first batch (2016–18) comprised of 20 students. The second batch (2017–19) consist of 28 students. The third and fourth batch comprised of 36 and 33 students respectively. 41 students were admitted in the fifth batch (2020–22). Thus, total number of students joined for the PG Programme is 158. Out of 158 students, 26 students are from other states. The Doctoral Programme of the Department started in the 2017 with five scholars. Out of the five one was a JRF holder. In the year 2018, 3 more students joined for Doctoral Programme. Out the three two were JRF holders. In the year 2019, 7 students were enrolled for PhD Programme. In 2020 – 21 admission for the Doctoral Programme 5 more students were admitted. Thus, the total number of PhD Scholars gone to 21. Out of 21 students, 6 students are from other states.

Faculty Members: At present, there are Five Faculty Members – 01 Professor and 04 Assistant Professors. There is Vacancy of One Professor and One Associate Professor.

Vision and Mission


  • Equip the young generation with sufficient knowledge on the theory and practice of governance which in turn help them become responsible civil servants.

  • Provide all academic support to the Civil Service aspirants among the students.

  • Facilitate the students for getting more exposure in the field of Public Administration by collaborating with other institutions of eminence.
