Collaboration with National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG)
The Department of Public Administration & Policy Studies got a unique opportunity to collaborate with National Centre for Good Governance, Government of India, New Delhi. As a part of it, the Department is preparing a report on the Innovative Administrative Practices during the current Pandemic period in the state of Kerala.
Publications of PhD Scholars:
The PhD Scholars of the Department have already published around 30 Research Papers in reputed UGC Approved and UGC CARE List Journals the since the beginning of the programme in 2017.
Paper Presentation in Seminars by PG Students and Ph.D. Scholars:
Both PG students and PhD Scholars have participated and presented papers related to their area of research in International/ National Seminars and Conferences.
Three Students of the PG Programme of 2018 – 20 Batch viz. StanyMariyaJoji (presented on March, 2018); Eileen Joseph and Aleena George (presented on March, 2019) have participated and presented papers on various areas of Social Science at Visva – Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. The PhD Scholars have participated and presented papers related to their area of research in International/ National Seminars and Conferences.
Internship of PG Students:
The Students of 2017 – 19 Batch MA Programme have done their Internship on the Role played by the Administration on Kerala Floods 2018 during the month of October, 2018 as per the Curriculum of their PG Programme.
The Students of 2018-20 Batch MA Programme has done their Internship at the District Collectorate, Kasaragod and worked on the various areas related to the development activities in the Kasaragod District.
Seven Students of 2018-20 Batch MA Programme have got selection for the Internship Programme at National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi. Three out of Seven students attended the Internship Programme.
Theory and Practice of Public Administration:
The Department is also providing opportunity for our students to familiarize the practice of Public Administration. In this regard as per the request of the Department the district administration especially the Social Justice Department invited our students to participate in ‘We Deserve Camp’. It was a new and unforgettable experience for the youth. We Deserve Initiative was basically designed by the district administration of Kasaragod. Its motto is to help the differently abled by keeping an online data repository about them in the district. Happy to state that this programme won the National e-Governance Award last year. We are proud to say that we were also a part of it.
Participation in Cultural & Sports Activities:
The Students of the Department along with the students of the Department of Social Work, Central University of Kerala has bagged the Overall Championship in Athletics during 2017-18.
Two Students viz. Lins Jose and Haritha T. represented the University Drama Team in the Amity National Youth Fest, 2020. One Student viz. Haritha T. represented the University Drama Team in the South Zone Youth Festival, 2019.
Mr. MeenapallyPrabhakar (2018-20 Batch) MA student have got selection to participate in the International Model United Nations held in Singapore.
Major Co-curricular activities under taken by the Department:
New India Mathan Celebrations, August, 2017: The Department of Public Administration & Policy Studies has been entrusted the responsibility to carry out the matters connected with New India Mathan Celebrations. This programme was initiated by Government of India and Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). Three Day programmes was arranged in this connection. It includes:
(i) Gandhi SmrithiYathra by visiting places connected with freedom struggle.
(ii) Freedom Quiz was Conducted.
(iii) Also arranged Invited Talk on the Freedom Movement in Kerala.
A Commemorate Volume comprised of around 60 pages was prepared.
OrganisedFour National Seminars: The Department so far organised four National Seminars on

b. Development, Displacement & Rehabilitation
c. Urban Governance
d. Constitution & Democracy: 70 Years of Indian Experience.
Training & Workshops:
a. The Department conducted Training programmes on the Rights of Women & Research Methodology in Social Sciences.
b. Apart from Seminars and Workshops, the Department took keen initiative in arranging Invited Talks and Special Lectures.
