Department of Genomic Science
Department of Genomic Science (DGS) was established in 2010 at Riverside Transit Campus, Padannakad to promote education and research in the area of Genomic sciences. It aims to develop an interdisciplinary programme through a demanding curriculum, and provide state of the art facility for Genomic research. The Department of Genomic Science has faculty members from diversified research fields like Animal, Microbial and Plant Genomics, Population genetics, Proteomics, Pharmacogenomics, Molecular genetics, Epigenetics, Stem Cell and Bioinformatics. State-of-the-art laboratory facilities include DNA Sequencer, PCR, HPLC, Spectrophotometer, Gel documentation system, Refrigerated Centrifuges, Laminar air flow, Incubators, Deep freezers and bioinformatics laboratory. The courses are designed to expose the students to wide ranging aspects in the field of Genomics, Proteomics, and Biotechnology to make them highly skilled in both theory and practices. The faculties are running extramural funded projects to un-earth the facts behind some of the scientific questions.
Mission
