Brief Profile
Prof. Muthukumar Muthuchamy received Ph.D. degree from Anna University, Chennai, India. He served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore for more than a decade and joined as an Associate Professor and subsequently joined as a Professor. He has been awarded ‘Young Scientist’, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (2007). His research articles placed 2ndand 10thposition of Top 25 Hottest Articles by Elsevier, USA (2005). His research articles got Best Paper Award from various International and National conferences.
Presently his team is doing research in the area of Climate Change and adaptation studies in collaboration with the Institute of BioEcoSciences, MD, USA for the Western Ghats Biodiversity Conservation and the production of energy from solar and wind in collaboration with Sokoto Energy Centre, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Nigeria. Apart from that preparation of nanocatalyst from rare earth metals for electrooxidation studies in collaboration with the University of Concepcion, Chile, Latin America, National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR), Chennai, India, and National Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, India. He received projects from various funding agencies such as DRDO, UGC, DST, BRNS etc. He guided 14 Ph.D thesis, 6 M.Phil Thesis, and 42 M.Sc., Dissertations. He is skilled in handling sophisticated equipment such as FT-IR (Thermo), HPLC (Shimadzu), GC-MS (Agilent 1100 Series), Total Organic Carbon Analyzer (Analytika Jenna), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (GBC-Avanta), Particle Size Analyser (CILAS-1180) and Zeta-meter System 3.0+. He is expertise in statistical modeling using computer software like Design Expert, Systat, SPSS and Artificial Neural Network (ANN).
