Brief Profile

Prof. Mohan A.K. is currently serving as Professor in the Department of Social Work, Central University of Kerala, India. He has done Masters in Social Work from the School of Roshni Nilaya, is affiliated with Mangalore University, Mangalore, and has done specialization in Community Development. He has been awarded Doctoral Degree in Social Work from the University of Mysore, Mysuru. He has twenty-four years of rich experience in Academic, Research, Administration, and social work practice. He is enriched with the experience of serving in MYRADA, BIRDS, Roshni Nilaya, SRIJAN-UNDP, New Delhi, SDM Education Society, Ujire, and the University of Mysore before joining the Central University of Kerala.

Many developmental projects have initiated by Dr. Mohan and apart from this he has actively involved in the monitoring and evaluation of various projects of Government and Non-governmental organizations; Directorate of Mass Education, Directorate of Municipal Administration, Government of Karnataka; CAPART, National Institute of Social Defense, ICSSR New Delhi, etc.  He supervised three major research projects such as Residual Illiteracy program and Sakshara Jyothi, Mandya; preparation of District Protection Plan (Child protection) for Mysuru, Skill-gap Analysis for Mysuru city and initiated ‘Sustainable Solution for Sanitary Napkin Disposal in the University of Mysore’. He coordinated the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan activity at the Central University of Kerala. Along with the academic activities he is very much concerned about Waste Management, Green Environment, Rain Water Harvesting, and Indigenous People. Presently Dr. Mohan is also serving as Director of APJ Abdul Kalam Center for extension services of Central University of Kerala

As an active and enthusiastic academician, had organized several Seminars and Workshops for effective knowledge sharing and it is continuing. Dr. Mohan, author of two books and also contributed sixty-four research papers in the reputed national and international journals and he has got many opportunities to chair and present several papers in national and international seminars/conferences. Around 6 scholars have completed Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Mohan. He is also a part of professional bodies such as ISPSW, Karnataka Association of Professional Social Workers, Kerala Association of Professional social workers, Bharathiya Samaj Karya Parishath, Bharathiya Shikshin Mandal and Chaitanya Foundation, etc.
