Brief Profile
Dr. S. Thennarasu is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Coordinator of the Centre for Endangered Languages. He obtained his B.A. (2001) in English Literature from University of Madras, M.A. (2004) in Applied Linguistics, M.Phil. (2006) in Applied Linguistics, Ph.D. (2012) in Applied Linguistics from University of Hyderabad (Central University).
Dr. S. Thennarasu had been working as Senior Lecturer cum Junior Resource Officer in Linguistic Data Consortium for Indian Languages (LDC-IL) from 13th October 2011 to 27th November 2013 with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore before joining Central University of Kerala. He worked as Lecturer cum Resource Person in LDC-IL from 5th May 2008 to 12th October 2011 with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore. He worked as an Annotator on Contract based for 3 months i.e. from 24th January 2008 to 9th May 2008 with BUTLER HILL GROUP, LLC, (U. S. based) a Virginia limited liability company (“Contractor”) MICROSOFT CORPORATION, a Washington corporation (Microsoft). Worked as Linguist under “Development of Indian Language Machine Translation System (IL-ILMT) (Tamil-Telugu, Telugu-Tamil)” from 6th January 2007 – 31st March 2008 sponsored by Department of Information Technology, Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. Worked as Project Fellow for two years from 1st October 2004 to 31st December 2006 under the project of “UGC/SAP” at CALTS, University of Hyderabad.
He has written more than 10 research articles and published 4 books in his credits.
