Brief Profile
Dr. Chithra Manisseri is currently employed as Assistant Professor at Department of Plant Science, Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod, Kerala, India. She completed her Master degree from Department of Plant Science, Calicut University and PhD from Central Food Technological Research Institute/Mysore University. She has worked as Post-Doctoral Researcher at Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI)/ Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California, USA; University of Hamburg, Germany and Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan R.O.C. She was nationally selected as UGC-Assistant Professor through UGC-Faculty Recharge Programme and was employed as Assistant professor at Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Bharathiar University prior to her current position at CUK. She has 22 publications in peer-reviewed journals and attended many national and international conferences. She is a reviewer for national/international journals. Her Bioprocess Technology Lab at CUK has obtained grants from UGC and DST-SERB. Currently 4 PhD scholars are working with her and she has guided 20 MSc students for dissertation thesis. The major areas of her research include Bioenergy: Biofuel production; Plant cell wall polymers: Structure-function relationships; Lignocellulolytic enzymes; Bioactive components and nutrition and Plant derived value added products.
