Brief Profile

Prof. K. Arunkumar is the Dean of the School of Biological Sciences, Professor of Plant Science;  at Central University of Kerala, India. He obtained his M.Sc. Botany and M.Phil. Botany (Plant Physiology) from Bharathidasan University, India. He was awarded Ph.D. from Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Madras, India during 1999. Having specialization in physiology and extraction chemistry, worked in Rubber Research Institute of India at Tura, Meghalaya during 1997-1999. Later, joined as Assistant professor in the year 1999 since then  concentrating on applied research of algal diversity, biology and biochemistry. He joined the Central University of Kerala in the year 2016. He has published 71 research articles in national and international peer-reviewed and Scopus Journals  and guided 6 Ph.D’s by attracting grants from Central Government of India. His  2 books and 10 book chapters are published by CRC, Elsevier, Springer.  His research has been supported by various Government of India funding agencies like UGC,TNSCST, DST, SERB etc., Recognizing his expertise in bioenergy, he offers 4 credits MOOC (Online) course “Biomass Characterization” for Postgraduates through UGC-SWAYAM.
