Brief Profile
Dr Soumya Murukesh is currently an Assistant Professor of English in the Department of International Relations, Capital Centre (Trivandrum) of the Central University of Kerala, Kasargode. She post-graduated in Comparative Literature and Linguistics and English Language and Literature. She has done her Mphil and PhD in Comparative Literature at the Centre for Comparative Literature, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. Her Doctoral thesis is on the topic " The Politics of the Literary Representation of the Mother Goddess Cult in the Rituals of Kerala". Her areas of interest are Cultural Studies, Folklore Studies, Indian Literature, Post-Colonial Studies, Comparative Literature etc. She received a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship from the Indian Council for Social Science Research in 2021. She is doing her post PhD in the " Impact of the Feminine Rituals of Hindu Goddesses on the Women in Kerala". Dr Soumya also received Dr Rajashekaran Endowment for the Best thesis in 2017 from the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit. She has authored one book and 20 research articles in reputed, UGC care listed / Web of Science indexed journals. She has also presented several papers in different National/ International Seminars. She also worked as a Translator in the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Thrissur. She has more than ten years of teaching experience at the college/University level.
