Brief Profile
Prof. (Dr).D.Swamikannan is Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Dean (SE), Central University of Kerala, Kasargod, Kerala, India. He did Ph.D from University of Mysore, Mysore. He has completed 28 years of teaching and research experience. He has successfully guided 23 Ph.D candidates and 23 M.Phils. Two research projects were completed with the financial assistance from University Grants Commission. He has published 28 research articles in national and international level journals and 19 papers were published in edited books. He has presented 43 papers in the conferences / seminars / workshops organized by national and international institutions. He visited four foreign countries viz., China, Singapore, Thailand and Dubai for academic activities. Prior to joining here, served as Professor and Head, Chairperson, School of Economics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. He has organized five UGC refresher courses for college teachers. He acted as Resource person in 72 academic programmes in various universities / institutions. He served as a member in various Doctoral committees and Ph.D., thesis evaluation board of Bharathidasan University, Bharathiyar University, Gandhigram Rural Institute, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Annamalai University, Periyar University, Alagappa University, Kannur University, University of Mysore, Cochin University of Science and Technology and Gurunanak Dev University. He was the Chairman of P.G. Board of Studies in Economics, Labour Studies and Rural Development. Besides, he was an instrumental in farming the syllabus for various P.G. and U.G Board of studies in Economics of autonomous colleges affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University.
He served as a member in various committees such as selection committee for the post of Assistant Professor, Redressal Committee, Students carrier coursing cell, CAS Committee, Inspection Committee, Awards Committee, Management Committee, Building Committee and UGC-NET obverser.
He is a life member of Indian Economic Association, Indian Institute of Public Administration, The Indian Econometric Society and Association of Economists of Tamilnadu.
He also served as member in Academic Council and Senate in Madurai Kamraj University.
