Brief Profile
Dr. Zam Ngaih Cing is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics, Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod. Previously, she had served as a Guest faculty in the Department of Linguistics and Tribal Languages, Tripura University (A Central University) in Suryamaninagar (Tripura). Then, she joined Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore (Karnataka) as a Senior Resource Person in the project, “Orthography Development for Languages of North-East India” under scheme of NEC. She had also submitted a project report to the Tribal Research Institute (Manipur) entitled, “Documentation of Threatened Culture of Smaller Tribes of Manipur: Suhte (Sukte)” which was sponsored by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. She had research experiences on some of the Tibeto-Burman and Austro-Asiatic languages spoken in North-East India including Tedim, Thadou, Mizo, Dimasa, Marskuin, Lyngngam etc.
Dr. Cing earned MA (Linguistics) and PhD (Linguistics) from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong (Meghalaya). She had cleared the UGC-NET (JRF) exam conducted by UGC.
