Brief Profile
Dr Suresh Rangarajan is Professor, Department of International Relations & Politics, Central University of Kerala, Periya P O, Kasaragod, Kerala. He served as Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Kerala from 2013 – 2022, and was Chairman, Department of Political Science, University of Kerala 2020- 2022. During his tenure as Chairman, Department of Political Science, University of Kerala, he has initiated 2 PG Programme, Virtual School of International Relations, Centre for Latin American Studies. and signed MoU with 4 Foreign Universities on academic collaboration.
He took BA and MA degree in Political Science from University of Kerala and M Phil degree in Political Science from University of Bombay, Mumbai and Ph D in International Studies from School of International Studies, Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry, with UGC Junior Research Fellowship. He had published seven books; Foreign Policy and Human Rights: An Indian Perspective (2009), Peace in the Indian Ocean: A South Asian Perspective (2011), Right to Information and Good Governance (2013), Maritime Security of India: The Coastal Security Challenges and Policy Options (2014) The Changing Dimensions of Security and Indian’s Security Policy Options (2015) India’s National Security: A Maritime Security Perspective (2020) Arthashastra of Kautilya: Relevance in the 21st Century (2021) and contributed chapters to many books. He had also published research articles in reputed National and International Journals. He had completed three UGC Major Research Projects including the latest one on ‘Maritime Security of India: The Coastal Security Challenges and Policy Options’ and the project received the Best Project Award of the University of Kerala in 2019. He has been selected as Associate in the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla and had completed a project on ‘The Tibetan Issue and India - China Border Problem: A Security Perspective’. Recently he had contributed a chapter on ‘Changing Dimensions of Security: An Indian Perspective’ in ‘The Palgrave Encyclopedia on Interest Groups, Lobbying and Public Affairs’, Palgrave Macmillan, 2021.
He is the Chairman, Political Science, PG Board of Studies, University of Kerala and also PG Board of Studies in Political Science, Sree Narayana Guru Open University, Kerala He is the resource person to many Human Resource Development Centre of the UGC and associated with confidential works of UPSC and State Public Service Commission. He was the Chief Editor of the University of Kerala Journal of Polity and Society (UGC -CARE Listed) and reviewer of many International Journals. He is also a NAAC Peer Team Member.
