Prof. Subramanya Pailoor

Brief Profile

Dr. Subramanya Pailoor is an Professor and Head of the Department of Yoga Studies at the Central University of Kerala, India. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor and Registrar at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA), Bangalore. A pioneering researcher in the fields of Yoga, Meditation, and Psychophysiology, Dr. Pailoor has authored over 50 research articles and more than 5 book chapters published in Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals. He has significantly contributed to the academic integration of Yoga and has led a research project on Yoga’s impact on cognitive and neuro-endocrine biomarkers, funded by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. His expertise is widely recognized, making him a sought-after expert member for various universities, institutions, and colleges across the country.
As the Head of the Department, Dr. Pailoor envisions developing the Department of Yoga Studies into a nationally and internationally recognized centre of excellence in Yoga education and research. Under his leadership, the department has taken progressive steps toward integrating traditional yogic wisdom with modern scientific inquiry, promoting evidence-based Yoga research, and nurturing a new generation of Yoga professionals, researchers, and educators. His work is driven by a mission to bring Yoga into the mainstream of academia while making its transformative benefits accessible to all.
