ORIENTATION SESSION LBS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING KASARAGOD


A yoga session was conducted as part of the Orientation Session for First-Year B. Tech Students at LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod, Kerala on 18th August 2026 from 2:30 PM to 4:15 PM. The yoga session was organized by the Department of Yoga Studies, School of Health Sciences, Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod, Kerala, with the objective of introducing the students to the importance of yoga and its role in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Approximately 650 first-year students, along with teaching staff members of the institution, participated in the programme. The awareness session on the significance and benefits of yoga was delivered by Prof. Subramanya Pailoor, Professor and Head, Department of Yoga Studies, Dr. Sriharisukesh N., Assistant Professor and Mrs. Varsha, Ph.D. Scholar. The yoga practices were demonstrated by Mrs. Varsha, Ph.D. Scholar, and Ms. Aparna, M.Sc. Student, while the instructions and guidance during the practical session were provided by Ms. Sushma B. Bangera, Ph.D. Scholar.

The session began with the instruction and demonstration of various yogic practices. The participants were introduced to and guided through loosening exercises, asanas, pranayama, meditation, and relaxation techniques. The practices were demonstrated step by step, and the participants actively followed the instructions and performed the practices along with the demonstrators.

Following the practical session, the speekers delivered a talk on the significance and benefits of yoga, particularly for students. The talk highlighted the role of regular yoga practice in improving physical fitness, flexibility, balance, concentration, stress management, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. The participants were also encouraged to incorporate yoga into their daily routine as a simple and effective approach to maintaining physical and mental health.

The participants showed active involvement and enthusiasm throughout the session. The programme provided them with both practical experience and an understanding of the importance of yoga in maintaining lifelong health and well-being. The session concluded on a positive note, with the students and staff appreciating the benefits of yoga and the practical demonstration.
