International Day of Yoga 2023


On the event of 9th International Day of Yoga, on June 21st 2023, Central University of Kerala had organized a grand function under Department of Yoga Studies. Every year, the Central University of Kerala celebrates International Yoga Day with much admiration providing awareness about the importance of Yoga to everyone. This year, under the able guidance and support of the Hon. Vice Chancellor, Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu with the supervision of Dr. Subramanya Pailoor, Head, Department of Yoga Studies, in association with the NSS cell of CUK, had organized the programs from 7:30 am to 10:00 am with two sessions. The sessions contained Common Yoga Protocol practice with the participation of around 600 members including Deans, Professors, and all the faculty members from other departments, research scholars, and students from various departments of the University. The session ended with Yoga Pledge unanimously taken by everyone present over there. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Govinda Rao Duddukuri, Dean, School of Medicine & Public Health. Vice Chancellor Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu delivered the presidential address in expressing the idea of the theme, “Yoga for Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” Har Aangan Yoga” and Yoga for One Earth One Family One Future which is the focus of International Yoga Day in 2023. He expressed that the festivities surrounding International Yoga Day seek to raise awareness of the holistic benefits of yoga and to promote it as a daily practice for better health all around the world. Dr. Subramanya Pailoor, Head, Department of Yoga Studies, introduced the chief guest of the celebration Padma Shri. Dr. John Ebnezar, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Holistic Orthopaedic Expert, Parimala Health Care Services, Bengaluru, followed by Yoga Day message that included Yoga is Multidimensional it gives us physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Through meditation we can control our monkey mind and it lead to development of integral growth of human beings.
On account of 9th International Day of Yoga, Hon. Vice chancellor distributed the prizes for the winners who participated for the Yogasana competition which includes teaching and non teaching staff and student, organized by the Central University Of Kerala in association with the Department of Yoga Studies.
