Yoga for Life Style Disorders. A Holistic Approach to Contemporary Health Challenges

The Department of Yoga Studies, School of Medicine and Public Health, Central University of Kerala, organized a two-day national seminar titled “Yoga for Lifestyle Disorders: A Holistic Approach to Contemporary Health Challenges” on March 11–12, 2025. The event brought together over 350 participants, including students, researchers, faculty, and yoga professionals from across India.

The seminar aimed to bridge traditional yogic wisdom and modern health science in addressing lifestyle-related disorders. Key sessions featured expert talks on Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Vedantic meditation, obesity management through yoga therapy, and the physiological basis of yogic interventions.

Speakers included Prof. K. Krishna Sharma, Dr. Govindaraja Setty, Dr. Puneeth Raghavendra, and Dr. Annapoorna K., who explored topics such as the Pancha Kosha model, Mitahara (balanced diet), and the scientific relevance of yoga practices.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Subramanya Pailoor and was well-received for its academic depth, practical insights, and relevance to modern healthcare. Key takeaways emphasized yoga’s role in disease prevention, mental wellness, and lifestyle management through an integrative, holistic lens.
